Marawi Crises
May 24, 2017 when we evacuated to Ditsaan Ramain, Lanao Del Sur. My mother was left behind.
She was trying to rescue my aunts. Her older sister was at Dansalan College Foundation Inc. and her younger sister was trapped at Land Bank by the ISIS-Maute group. They were able to
escaped at Mapandi where my uncle's house is situated. They stayed there for 4 days. On the 5th day of the seige, they evacuated to Wato Balindong Lanao Del Sur.
Afraid and Confused,
those were the emotions we felt
We were not so sure if we can survive the next day, week, months. We don't have enough food.
We dont have enough water. My sister was crying. We don't have much clothes to wear.
We lost our home, and most of all we missed our mother.
we were not the old children who were very active and always happy.
I can still recall the first day of the war, my mother was in market buying supplies for the comming school days. We waited for her to come home. When she got home , she told us what
she saw. A group of military were at public market near Bureau of Jail, they seemed to be looking for an enemy, the Maute group. My mother was wearing black abaya
and one of the militaries seem to be suspicious of her.
Hours passed, we heared big explosions, gunfires and shouting of people. The cellphone rang and it was my aunt that told us that she was being trapped at the
Land Bank. My mother cannot go and be with us. Until now I can still feel the loneliness I felt that day. Life without our mother is a journey that I don't want to travel. Thanks to almighty ALLAH
even if our properties were lost, the important thing is we were all safe and united again.
WHAT I'VE LEARNED.
I've learned how important family is through my mother's actions. How life can be without my mother and to
always have hope and faith in every heavy situations.
Don't waste time and use it for good.
